What are you REALLY hungry for?

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Some of you may be watching the Superbowl kickoff right now! Let me ask you, what snacks are YOU munching on right now, and are what are you REALLY hungry for? Are you hungry for fun and excitement, are you hungry for team spirit?

I want to ask everyone how their opposite week has gone? Have you tried anything new this week? I did! The picture I've posted is what I made last night from the new "Just 5" cookbook. Lamb with Couscous Salad. There was an excitement that came along with spicing things up that made me less hungry for things I didn't really want.

Always remember that you need to keep your mind active when it concerns food. Consistently having the same foods all the time leads to EMOTIONAL boredom. When we are unenthusiastic about the food choices we make, then we go looking for other items that aren't good choices, or perhaps too much of our usual choices.

Also consider what emotions drive you to make less than great choices. Can you identify them? When do they occur and why? Those times are crucial to our success! We will feel all of these emotions again in our lives. That much is guaranteed. Building the skills to work through those emotionally hungry times will carry you through the weight loss process and give you the ability to maintain your weight loss.

I want everyone to think about these questions and bring your ideas to the meeting so we can work on it TOGETHER.

Have a wonderful evening!

Snow Cancelation

To all members at the Buzzards Bay Wed. night meeting.

This evenings meeting 1/26 will be canceled due to the anticipation of worsening weather conditions.

Hopefully mother nature will be nice to us for the rest of the winter so we won't have to miss any more weeks of motivation!

I encourage all of you to make it out tomorrow night when the roads have been cleared and find a place to weigh in.

For now, enjoy a nice cup of 1pp hot cocoa!

Changing Weather

Well, it seems that New England has shown its true colors once again. The old adage..."if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes"

I'm so sorry to everyone that was disappointed about the cancellation. It appears that the sun decided to show itself despite the National Weather Services grim forecast. I truly feel terrible that we could have gone ahead and done our walk...in nice weather none the less!

Perhaps we can make other plans for the summertime to make up for the canceled walk.

Best,
Karen

Weight Watchers Walk-It Challenge

The National Weather Service has reported that there will be thunder and lightning all day and I feel that it is wise to cancel the walk scheduled for tomorrow. I have great concern that the conditions could become hazardous. My aim is to make sure that all of you have your safety put first.

I am greatly disappointed that mother nature has put a damper on our efforts but I certainly hope that this won't stop any of you from choosing another 5K to walk this summer. There will be plenty of opportunities to come and I hope you'll all share them with each other.

Thank you all so much for your excitement and enthusiasm in our joint effort!

Best,
Karen

Oh, Fudge couresty of HungryGirl.com

Oh,Fudge!

Fudge RULES. That's why we whipped up a fancy new recipe for the candy classic, topped with toasty marshmallows and almonds. Happy chewing, people!

Ingredients:
1 box Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies Mix (the 18.3-oz. Family Size box)
2 cups canned pure pumpkin
2 cups mini marshmallows
1/4 cup slivered almonds, lightly crushed
2 tbsp. Hershey's Lite chocolate syrup

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine brownie mix, pumpkin, and chocolate syrup in a large bowl, and stir until completely mixed and smooth. (Batter will be thick!) Spray a mid-sized baking pan (8" X 8" works best) with nonstick spray and pour in the mixture. Smooth the top of the batter with a spatula.

Bake in the oven for 25 minutes. Remove pan from the oven, and evenly distribute mini marshmallows across the top of the batter. Sprinkle almonds over the marshmallows. Using a spatula, press down on the marshmallow-nut layer to help it adhere to the batter.

Return pan to the oven, and bake for 10 additional minutes. Remove pan from the oven, and let cool slightly. Refrigerate, uncovered, for several hours, until completely chilled. (Important! Do not cover pan while initially chilling it in the fridge.) Cut into 36 squares and serve!
